女士们，先生们，朋友们：

今天我们在此相聚，共同庆祝中国塞浦路斯建立战略伙伴关系一周年和中塞建交五十一周年，并为中塞友好故事征集活动获奖作者及单位颁奖。中塞两国是相互支持、同舟共济的好伙伴，在座的各位是关心中塞关系发展的好朋友。首先，我谨代表中国驻塞浦路斯大使馆，欢迎大家出席此次招待会！感谢大家为中塞关系发展作出的贡献！
Today, we are meeting here to jointly celebrate the 1st anniversary of China-Cyprus strategic partnership and 51 years of our diplomatic ties, as well as the success of the Collection of China-Cyprus Friendship Stories. Our two countries are good partners supporting each other through thick and thin. All of you present are good friends caring for the growth of China-Cyprus ties. Here, on behalf of the Chinese embassy in Cyprus, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to you for attending this reception, and express heartfelt thanks to you for contributing to China-Cyprus relations. The integration of two ancient civilizations is the defining feature of the China-Cyprus state-to-state cooperation and people-to-people ties.
2021年11月30日，习近平主席同阿纳斯塔夏季斯总统通电话，一致决定将中塞关系提升为战略伙伴关系。这是两国元首顺应时代发展大势和两国人民心愿共同作出的政治决定，为双边关系进一步发展注入了强大动力。
On November 30, 2021, President Xi Jinping and President Nicos Anastasiades had a phone call, where they jointly decided to upgrade China-Cyprus ties into a strategic partnership. This is a shared political decision made by the two presidents in light of the trend of the times and aspirations of the two peoples. It has injected strong impetus to the further growth of our bilateral relations.
一年来，在两国元首的战略引领下，经过双方共同努力，中塞战略伙伴关系取得了“开门红”。首先，我们捍卫了基于国际关系基本准则的共同原则。双方在涉及彼此核心利益和重大关切问题上继续坚定相互支持。中方一如既往支持塞浦路斯维护国家主权和领土完整的努力，在塞浦路斯问题上为塞方主持公道；塞方致力奉行一个中国原则，在涉台、涉疆等问题上给予中方坚定支持。同时，双方都主张践行真正的多边主义，维护以联合国为核心的国际体系、以国际法为基础的国际秩序、以联合国宪章宗旨和原则为基础的国际关系基本准则。双方还成功完成首例引渡合作，共同打击犯罪，维护司法公正和法律尊严。
Over the past year, under the strategic guidance of the two presidents, and thanks to the joint efforts of the two sides, the China-Cyprus strategic partnership has got off to a good start.
First, we have upheld shared principles arising from the basic norms governing international relations. We have continued to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns. The Chinese side has all along supported Cyprus in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity and upheld justice for Cyprus on the Cyprus Question. The Cypriot side has been committed to the one-China principle, and resolutely supported China on issues such as those related to Taiwan and Xinjiang.
At the same time, our two sides have both advocated true multilateralism. We have upheld the UN-centered international system, the international order based on international law, and basic norms governing international relations underpinned by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Our two sides have also successfully concluded the first extradition case to fight crime, and defended judicial justice and the dignity of law.
其次，我们推进了基于平等互利、合作共赢精神的共同利益。双方聚焦深化共建数字、绿色、健康和创新丝绸之路。今年1—10月，双边进出口贸易总额9.24亿美元，同比增长超过50%。进博会塞国家馆和京东购物平台国家馆引发广泛关注。中石油管道局承建的塞液化天然气终端项目克服困难，进展顺利。两国还即将签署2022-2027卫生和医学科学合作执行计划。
Second, we have advanced shared interests based on the spirit of equality, mutual benefit and win-win. Our two sides have focused on the joint development of digital, green, health and innovation Silk Road. In first 10 months this year, our bilateral trade reached 924 million US dollars, up more than 50% over last year.
The Cypriot national pavilions at China International Import Expo and on JD online shopping platform have attracted wide attention. The LNG terminal project undertaken by China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering has overcome difficulties and progressed well.
第三，我们加强了基于文明共赏、互学互鉴原则的人文交流。双方成功签署高等教育和科研合作谅解备忘录，塞浦路斯欧洲大学与福建闽江学院合办的数字经济学院进展顺利。宁波和拉纳卡、福州和尼科西亚缔结友城关系，西安与帕福斯、广州与利马索正在推进结好事宜。双方还成功举办了第二届中塞青年论坛，政党、智库、高校青年代表深入交流，取得了增进了解、累积共识、深化友谊的良好效果。
Third, we have strengthened educational, cultural and people-to-people exchanges under the principle of mutual appreciation and mutual learning. Our two sides have signed an MOU on cooperation in higher education and scientific research. The Digital Economy College jointly established by the European University Cyprus and Minjiang University of Fujian Province is progressing well. Sister city relationships have been set up between Ningbo and Larnaca and between Fuzhou and Nicosia.
Our two sides have also successfully held the Second China-Cyprus Youth Forum, where youth representatives from political parties, think tanks and universities of our two countries had in-depth discussions. Through the event, they increased mutual understanding, built consensus and deepened friendship.
过去一年中塞战略伙伴关系的累累硕果是两国建交51年来友好合作的缩影。近期成功召开的中共二十大为中国未来发展擘画了蓝图，也为中国进一步发展与包括塞浦路斯在内的世界各国的友好关系指明了方向。
The rich fruits of the China-Cyprus strategic partnership over the past year are an epitome of the our friendship and cooperation in the past 51 years. The 20th CPC National Congress, which was successfully concluded last October, drew up the blueprint for China’s future development, and set the direction for China’s friendly relations with other countries around the world, including Cyprus.
中塞两国分别传承着中华文明和古希腊文明。文明无高低，历史皆启示。交流扩大共识，互赏增进包容。中塞间共通的文明孕育了我们共同的价值追求，相似的战争、殖民的苦难经历，让我们深知国家统一与和平发展的可贵。我们都反对霸权主义和强权政治，坚定维护主权平等和国际公平正义；我们都理解尊重世界的多样性，从而坚定地捍卫真正的多边主义；我们都追求民主自由，但明白各国国情不同，实现民主自由的方式各异；我们都更能努力超越非此即彼，践行美美与共，携手共建人类命运共同体。
China and Cyprus are home to Chinese and ancient Greek civilizations respectively. History tells that no civilization is superior to others. Exchanges expand consensus, and mutual appreciation makes each other more inclusive.
The Chinese and Cypriot civilizations, which have much in common, have fostered our shared values. Simliar experience of war and colonial sufferings have made us deeply cherish our national unity, peace and development.
We both reject hegemonism and power politics, and firmly uphold sovereign equality, international fairness and justice. We both understand and respect diversity in the world, and on such basis, resolutely uphold true multilateralism. We both pursue democracy and freedom, while understanding that under different national conditions, the ways of achieving democracy and freedom are different. We both can go beyond binary perspectives, understand the importance of live and let live, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.
两大古老文明的相融互通是中塞两国友好合作的底色，它真切体现在两国人民的友谊之中。这次友好故事征集活动中，我们收到两国各界投稿130多篇。细读这些故事，大家会感受到两国人民思维相似、情感相融，从心底里钦佩彼此、尊重彼此、理解彼此，有那么多心灵深处的共同点。我想，这就是中塞关系行稳致远的动力源泉，也让我们对中塞关系的未来更加充满信心！
The integration of our two ancient civilizations is the defining feature of our state-to-state cooperation and people-to-people ties. In the Collection of China-Cyprus Friendship Stories, we have received over 130 pieces of articles and videos. From them, we can feel the shared way of thinking and empathy between our two peoples, who admire, respect and understand each other from the bottom of their heart. They have so much in common deep in their mind. In fact, this underpins the steady and sustained growth of China-Cyprus relations, and gives me great confidence in the future of our bilateral ties.
