【1】怀疑

 

①可接用about。

【例】I have no doubt about our manager’s ability.

我对我们经理的能力没有疑问。

 

②可接用疑问代词或疑问副词所引导的从句。

【例】There is some doubt whether they can secure the orders for us.

他们能否为我们获得那些订单，值得怀疑。

 

③在有no或not的句子中，doubt后面的从句应为that从句。

【例】There is not any doubt that your products are suitable for this market.

无疑，你方产品在此市场很适销。

 

【2】beyond [past] (all, any) doubt无疑

 

【例】In the 1980s, China, with one-fourth of the world’s population, carried only one-hundredth of the total world trade; and that was, beyond any doubt, fairly small in terms of foreign trade.

在20世纪80年代，拥有世界1/4人口的中国在世界贸易总额中却仅占1/100，就其对外贸易来说无疑是相当小的。

 

【3】no doubt没有疑问

 

用作状语。

【例】You no doubt have observed a sharp upward tendency in wool prices.

无疑，你公司已注意到羊毛价格的急剧上涨趋势。

【例】Wheat is down over l0 percent now.

现在小麦已跌价10%以上。

 

【2】现（付）的

 

【例】They made a down payment off £100.

他们现付100英镑[预付定金100英镑]。

 

【3】向下，下降

 

【例】World 2000/2001 cotton production is estimated at 60 million bales, down 6% from the 1999/2000 level.

2000/2001年度世界棉花产量估计为6000万包，较1999/2000年度减少6%。

 

【4】现（付）地

 

【例】They paid half down and half in instalments.

他们一半付现，一半分期付款。
