①泛指法院、法庭时可用courts或the court。

【例】Law courts are not required in arbitration.

仲裁之中不需要法院（干预）。

 

②当指某次庭询时，也可用作n(C)。

【例】The court will sit next month to hear our case.

法院下个月要开庭审理我们的案件。

 

③可用作定语。

【例】Arbitration of disputes can save court costs.

对争议进行仲裁可节省法庭费用。

①【例】Through the courtesy of Mr. B, we are given to understand that you are the leading importer of electric goods in your area.

承蒙B先生告知你公司是你地区最大的电气用品的进口商。

 

②可用于托人带交信件（如介绍信）的信封上，等于Kindness of，By Kindness of或Per Kindness of。

covenant

【1】合约条款，保证

 

【例】All of the terms, provisions, covenants and conditions contained in the lease are made a part of this Agreement.

该租约所包含的一切条目、规定、条款和条件均构成本协议的组成部分。

 

【2】保证

 

①除可接用名词作宾语外，还可接用不定式。

【例】In consideration of the payments to be made by the Employer, the Contractor, hereby covenants with the Employer to execute, complete and maintain the Works in conformity with the provisions of the Contract.

鉴于雇主将要支付费用，承包人特向雇主保证按照合同的规定实施、完成并维修合同工程。

 

②还可接用that从句。

【例】It hereby covenants that the Consignee guarantees the payment of all bills and accounts for the goods.

兹订立合约，代销人担保偿付货物的账单和账款。
