①【例】We shall advise you what articles our sister company is interested in.

我们将告知你方我兄弟公司[分公司]感兴趣的商品。

 

②用于公司名称中时常缩写成Co.。

【例】Your company has kindly been introduced to us by Messrs. Freeman & Co., Ltd., Lagos, Nigeria, as prospective buyers of Chinese cotton piece goods.

承蒙尼日利亚拉各斯的弗里曼有限公司介绍，你公司可能成为中国棉布的买主。

 

③在非正式场合，公司名称中的company可以省略。

【例】Hudson’s Bay (Company) is sending Emily to China to buy textiles.

哈得逊湾公司要派遣埃米莉到中国购买纺织品。

【1】comparable with可与……相比的

 

【例】We could send you much larger orders if you could see your way to bringing your price down to a level comparable with that of your competitors in this market.

如果你方设法将价格降至能与本市场竞争对手价格相比的水平，则我方能提出数额大得多的订货单。

 

【2】comparable to可与……比得上的

 

【例】We are of the opinion that the quality of the Spanish goods is far from being comparable to that of ours.

我们的意见是西班牙货物的质量比不上我们货物的质量。

①compare... with拿……比较

【例】If you compare our products with theirs, you will agree that our price is not high at all.

如果拿我们产品同他们产品相比较，你们就会同意我们的价格根本不高。

 

②过去分词短语(as) compared with可在句中作状语。

【例】Compared with the previous year, the average retail price was reduced 9 per cent.

同前一年相比，平均零售价格降低了9%。

 

③compare with常用favorably，unfavorably之类状语修饰，说明“比起来为好”，“比起来不好”。

【例】The quality and prices of our products compare very favorably with those of other suppliers.我们产品同其他供应商的产品比较，质量不差，价格不高。

 

④compare... to...“把……比作……”。

【例】Your product can not be compared to ours.

你方的产品同我方产品不能比较（极不相同，无比较之处）。

 

⑤现在趋势是多用compare to代替compare with，特别是在compared with中。

【例】Sugar production rose 120 percent compared to the previous year.

同前一年相比，糖的产量上升了120%。
