《我是路人甲》

电影《我是路人甲》， 英语片名翻译为I’m Somebody。“路人甲”本是影视作品中的配角，是个nobody (a person who has no importance or influence)，即“ 无足轻重的小人物”。片名不译为I’m Nobody， 却译为I’m Somebody，是用心良苦的。somebody 的意思是 an important person，即“重要人物”。“I’m Somebody”这句话表达了一群追梦群众演员的意志和心声。

 

“路人”的第一个意思是“路过的行人”。英语可以译为 passer-by。例如：

 

1. 这个年青人在这部电影中扮演一个路人。The young man played the role of a passer -by in the film.

 

“路人”的第二个意思是比喻“毫不相干的人”。英语可以译为stranger。例如：

 

2. 他的阴谋诡计甚至路人皆知。His conspiracy is known even to strangers.

 

“路人甲”指在电视剧和电影中扮演没有台词或仅有一两句简单台词的群众演员。英语可以译为 walking gentleman（指男士)、walking lady( 指女士)。例如：

 

3. 这名青年演员不愿意总是充当无名无姓的路人甲。他梦想有朝一日在戏中成为主角。The young actor was reluctant to be always playing the role of an anonymous walking gentleman. He dreamed of becoming the main performer in a play some day.

 

“群众演员”，英语可以译为 walk-on, walk-on player, walk-on part。例如：

 

4. 她在《飘》这部电影中只是个群众演员。She was only a walk-on in the film Gone with the Wind.

 

“群众演员”，还可以译为 extra 或 figurant。例如：

 

5. 这个年轻人在这部电影的一个群众场面里当群众演员。The young man played a part as an extra in a crowd scene for the film.

 

“跑龙套的”是京剧中的群众演员。英语可以译为 utility man, walk-on part。例如：

 

6. 他在这部戏里只能当跑龙套的。He could only serve as a utility man in the play.

 

“配角”的第一个意思是“合演一出戏，都扮主要角色”，是个动词。英语可以译为 to co-star in a play。例如：

 

7. 这两个京剧演员经常在一起配角，合演过《三岔口》。The two Peking Opera actors often co-star in a play, having made a joint performance like Where Three Roads Meet.

 

“配角”的第二个意思是“影视和戏剧中的次要角色”。英语可以译为supporting role, supporting player, supporting actor, supporting cast。“男配角”为male supporting role，“女配角”为female supporting role。例如：

 

8. 当舞台上的主角吸引我们的注意力时，我们也意识到配角及该剧自身场景的重要性。While the leading actor on the stage captures our attention, we are aware of the importance of the supporting players and the scenery of the play itself.

 

“配角”的第三个意思是“辅助或次要的人或事物”，英语可以译为support role, supporting player, supporting actor。

 

9. 肉类应该是我们盘中的配角，而不是主角。Meat should be a supporting actor on the plate, not the main character.

 

“配角”，英语也可以译为second banana。banana原是喜剧或滑稽表演中丑角手持的敲打其他演员头部的香蕉形状的充气棒或充水棍，有点像过去我国相声演员手持的用来敲打对方头部的折扇的作用。banana的意思后来演变为“丑角”。second banana 原指“次要丑角”，亦即“配角”或“二把手”。例如：

 

10. 这位管子工把他的二把手留下来，去完成安装新洗碗槽的工作。The plumber left his second banana behind, to finish installing the new sink.

 

“配角”，英语还可以译为second fiddle。second fiddle原指交响乐团中的第二小提琴手，其引申义为“配角”或“二把手”。例如：

 

11. 这名政客在大选前肯定是个配角。The politician was definitely second fiddle before the election.

 

12. 他越来越不满足于当配角。He grew unsatisfied with playing second banana.

 

“次要角色” 或“小角色”， 英语可以译为minor role, minor part。例如：

 

13. 那位著名演员似乎很乐于在那部电视剧中扮演一个小角色。That famous actor seemed content to play a minor part in the TV play.
