Squish

粘糊

A term introduced into linguistic analysis by the American linguist John Robert Ross (b. 1938) in the early 1970s, as part of his notion of non-discrete grammar; it refers to a continuum along which lexical items can be placed. For example, on the gradient between the ‘poles’ of verb and noun, lexical items are seen as displaying degrees of verb-ness or noun-ness, and syntactic rules are seen as applying with varying productivity to different parts of the continuum. Indeterminate or fuzzy categories are the focus of attention.

美国语言学家约翰·罗伯特·罗斯(生于1938)于本世纪70年代早期引入语言学的一个术语,用来定义他的非离散语法的概念。它指一个词项的连续统,两端是动词和名词。各词项被视为显示不同程度的动词性或名词性,句法规则被视为以不同程度的能产性适用于连续统的不同部位。中间或模糊(“粘糊”)范畴是注意的中心。
