At the just-concluded Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, Chinese athletes fully demonstrated the hard work, confidence and openness of the Chinese people. South African athletes also performed extraordinarily. Their attitude of rising to challenges and winning glory for the country is highly commendable, whether it is the gold medal-winning swimmer Schoenmaker or the skateboarder Oberholzer who regards skateboarding “as his life”.
在刚刚落下帷幕的东京夏季奥林匹克运动会上，中国运动健儿努力拼搏、自信开放的精神风貌彰显中国气质。南非运动员表现同样出色，无论是摘金夺银的游泳健儿舒恩马克，还是坚持“滑板即人生”的滑板运动员奥伯霍尔策，其勇于自我挑战、为国争光的态度更值得赞扬。
Following Tokyo, the world will have another Olympic feast in February next year – Beijing Winter Olympics. Having hosted the Summer Olympics in 2008, Beijing will again attract the attention of the world.
品尝了东京夏季奥运会的饕餮盛宴，明年2月世界又将迎来一场奥林匹克盛会—北京冬季奥运会，北京作为“双奥之城”，继2008年夏季奥运会后，将再一次聚吸引全世界的目光。
Juan Antonio Samaranch, the Honorary Lifetime Chairman of the International Olympic Committee, praised the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing as a splendid Olympics presented by the Chinese people for the world. The world was impressed by modern stadiums, efficient traffic systems, rigorous organization and coordination, dedicated volunteers, as well as the profound Chinese culture and a thriving Chinese economy.
国际奥委会终身名誉主席萨马拉奇曾盛赞，“北京2008年夏季奥运会是中国人民献给全世界的一届精美绝伦的奥运会。现代化的体育场馆，高效运作的交通体系，严密的组织协调，志愿者富有奉献精神的服务，以及中国文化的博大精深，中国经济的蓬勃发展，给全世界留下了难以忘怀的印象。”
Beijing will host a “simple, safe, and splendid” Winter Olympics in February 2022 on the basis of a full COVID-19 response. This is a solemn commitment made by the Chinese government and people for the international Olympic family. The Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, which combines the Olympic spirit with innovations in low-carbon operation and environmental protection, will be the first major event in the history of the Olympics to use green and clean electricity alone. Millimeter-wave 5G will be used for live broadcast of the events, making it the first Winter Olympics with a large-scale smart 5G technology application. We will get to see an extraordinary green and high-tech Winter Olympics in Beijing.
2022年2月，北京将在充分做好疫情防控的前提下，举办一届“简约、安全、精彩”的冰雪奥运盛会，这是中国政府和人民对国际奥林匹克大家庭的庄严承诺。北京冬奥会和冬残奥会将低碳、环保创新理念与奥运精神相结合，将成为奥运历史上第一届全部使用绿色清洁电能的盛会，还将应用5G毫米波进行赛场直播，成为首届5G智慧应用规模落地的冬奥会。我们将迎来一场非凡卓越的绿色冬奥、科技冬奥的盛会。
The Olympic flag fluttering in Beijing again will bring hope to people ravaged by the pandemic worldwide. The values of peace, friendship, and unity are rooted in the spirit of mankind through the Olympics. “Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together” will be its eternal theme.
在疫情肆虐的当下，奥林匹克旗帜再次在北京高高飘扬，相信会为全球饱受疫情折磨的人们带来希望。奥运会将和平、友谊、团结的价值深植于全人类的精神之中，“更快、更高、更强、更团结”更是奥运会永恒的主题。
The spirit of solidarity advocated by the Olympics dovetails with the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind advocated by President Xi Jinping. In the context of the on-going pandemic, extreme weather, food crises, geopolitical crisis, and a slowdown in economic growth, the world needs to unite as a community with a shared future, build confidence and work hard to address unprecedented challenges.
奥运倡导的团结精神与习近平主席倡导的构建人类命运共同体理念高度契合，在当前疫情持续蔓延以及极端气候、粮食危机、地缘危机、经济增长放缓的大背景下，人类作为命运共同体，更应团结起来，携手并进，增强必胜之心，奋力攻坚克难，共同应对前所未有的挑战。
The Olympics offers a way for the people worldwide to fulfill their beautiful ideals and express the love for peace. It is a fair stage for all to strive for national pride. As an interpretation of the modern Olympic spirit goes: “Every individual must have the possibility of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”
奥运会是世界人民实现美好理想、传播和平意愿的途径，也是世界各个国家和地区公平对待、宽容学习、和平友好的样本，并成为书写国家荣誉的公平舞台。在现代奥林匹克精神的诠释中，有这样一段话：“每一个人都应享有从事体育运动的可能性，而不受任何形式的歧视，并体现相互理解、友谊、团结和公平竞争的奥林匹克精神。”
Each Olympics will eventually pass, but the spirit moves on forever. I still remember that a South African athlete left a deep impression on the world at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, swimmer Natalie du Toit. Having won five gold medals at the Athens Paralympic Games, she was the only athlete to participate in both the Beijing Summer Olympics and the Beijing Paralympics. She won 16th place in the women’s 10 km marathon swimming at the Beijing Olympics and became a hero of victory for all of us. That is the charm of the Olympics, and the value of the Olympic spirit.
奥运会终将过去，奥林匹克精神永不停息。我还记得，2008年北京奥运会上，一位南非健儿给全世界留下了极其深刻的印象，她就是游泳运动员杜特伊特。这位雅典残奥会5枚金牌的获得者，是惟一同时参加北京奥运会和北京残奥会的运动员。虽然北京奥运会女子10公里马拉松游泳比赛中她只获得了第16名，但她在所有人心中都是胜利的英雄。这就是奥运会的魅力所在，这就是奥林匹克精神的价值所在。
From Tokyo to Beijing, from Summer Olympics to Winter Olympics, let us look forward to pursuing our dream at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. I wish the athletes of our two countries achieve excellent results!
从东京到北京，从夏季到冬季，从盛夏到冰雪，让我们共同期待重聚在五环旗下，再次因奥运逐梦北京。祝愿两国健儿取得优异成绩！
