各位年轻的朋友们，大家下午好。
Dear young friends, good afternoon.
今天是一次特别的聚会，参加此次聚会的是曾经在中国大学学习或者正在中国大学学习的年轻朋友。这是中国使馆第一次举办留华学生聚会，非常欢迎大家。
Today’s gathering is a very special one, as it is for young friends who studied or are still studying at Chinese universities. It is the first time that the Chinese Embassy hosts such an event. A warm welcome to everyone.
今年是中文建交30周年。30年时间虽短，中文关系却发生了很大变化。苏丹陛下12次访问中国。2018年，习近平主席访问文莱，两国元首将双边关系提升为战略合作伙伴关系。两国政治互信不断提升。疫情发生以来，两国相互同情，相互支持，互信和友谊得到升华。中文之间的支持是实实在在的，真心实意的。今年2月初，中国捐赠给文莱52000剂国药疫苗，文莱是第四个接到中国疫苗捐赠的国家。我们非常高兴，国药疫苗在文莱受到欢迎，为文莱疫苗接种计划做出了贡献。
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Brunei diplomatic relations. Within such a short time of 30 years, China-Brunei relations have improved substantially. His Majesty the Sultan has visited China 12 times. During H.E. President Xi Jinping’s visit to Brunei in 2018, two heads of state elevated the bilateral relations to Strategic Cooperative Partnership. Political mutual trust has seen constant consolidation. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, the two countries have rendered sympathy and support to each other, with mutual trust and friendship further enhanced. In early February this year, China donated 52,000 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines to Brunei, making Brunei the fourth country in the world to receive China’s vaccine donation. We are very glad to see that Sinopharm vaccines have been welcomed in Brunei, and contributed to Brunei’s vaccination program.
建交30年来，双边贸易额从最初的不足千万美元增长到19亿美元，增长200多倍。双向投资从无到有，迅速增长。目前，中国是文莱最大的外资来源地。恒逸石化开拓了文莱油气下游新产业，昔日荒岛变成一个现代化的石化基地，大幅增加了文莱对外贸易，提供大量直接和间接就业，培养大批石化人才。中文合资企业共同管理的摩拉港效益不断提升。淡布隆大桥是文莱现代化的新名片，中国公司参与了大桥最困难部分的建设。中国公司在大摩拉岛大桥建设中使用了不少先进技术和专利，体现了桥梁建设的高水平。中文合作领域不断扩大，从石化、基础设施、旅游、银行、港口运营到渔业、电子商务、疫情防控。今天在场的有不少朋友直接参与了中文合作，感谢你们的支持。
Over the past 30 years, bilateral trade has grown from less than 10 million US dollars to 1.9 billion US dollars, an increase of more than 200 times. Two-way investment has grown rapidly from scratch. At present, China is Brunei’s largest source of foreign direct investment. Hengyi Industries has extended downstream oil and gas industry chain in Brunei, transforming a desert island into a modern petrochemical production base. Hengyi Industries has greatly increased Brunei’s foreign trade, provided a large number of direct and indirect employment, and cultivated a large pool of petrochemical talents. The Muara Port, managed by a China-Brunei joint venture, has seen steady improvement in its effectiveness and profits. New name card for Brunei’s modernization, the Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge was co-constructed by a Chinese company for the most difficult part, the part in the rainforest. Many advanced technologies and patents were applied in the construction of the Pulau Muara Besar Bridge, demonstrating the advanced level of bridge construction. The areas of China-Brunei cooperation are expanding from petrochemical, infrastructure, tourism, banking and port operations to fishery, e-commerce, and epidemic prevention and control. Dear young friends, many of you are directly involved in the China-Brunei cooperation, we thank you for your invaluable support.
中文教育合作快速发展。中国政府每年都向文莱学生提供政府奖学金，面向东盟各国学生的菁英奖学金，有的大学如中山大学也面向东盟国家学生提供奖学金。在文莱，恒逸实业与文莱大学和浙江大学的合作开始于2014年，已有80名学生毕业，走上恒逸石化的工作岗位，为文莱的油气下游产业发展服务。中文职业教育合作也取得积极进展。
Educational cooperation has developed rapidly as well. Every year, the Chinese government provides Government Scholarships to Bruneian students, and Scholarship for Youth of Excellence Scheme of China (YES CHINA) to students from ASEAN countries. Some universities, such as Sun Yat-sen University, also offer scholarships to students from ASEAN countries. In Brunei, the cooperation between Hengyi Industries, UBD and Zhejiang University began in 2014. To date, 80 students have graduated and started working in Hengyi, serving the development of Brunei’s downstream oil and gas industry. Cooperation in China-Brunei vocational education has also made positive progress.
大家在中国学习生活过一段时间，对中国的了解不断加深。7月1日，中国隆重庆祝了中国共产党成立100周年。了解中国近百年历史的人，会清楚中国共产党执政是历史的选择，是人民的选择。正是在中国共产党的领导下，中国取得了真正的独立，经济社会取得全面发展，中国人民为此感到骄傲和自豪。
Dear young friends, you all studied and lived in China for some time, and your understanding of China has deepened because of it. On July 1, China celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Those who know China’s modern history well will understand that the ruling of the CPC was the choice of history and the choice of the Chinese people. Under the leadership of the CPC, China achieved true independence, and all-round economic and social development, for which the Chinese people are truly proud.
在中国，在你们的学校，留下了你们青春的记忆，美好时光。中国教育是高水平的教育。中文合作前景广阔。事实会继续证明，你们的选择完全是明智和正确的，到中国留学前程似锦，大有可为。希望你们做中文友好的纽带、两国合作的桥梁，多参加促进中文交流合作的活动，多向你们的亲朋好友介绍中国，多去中国看看，提高辨别假新闻的能力。也希望多到中国在文莱企业工作，为中文关系发展作出更大贡献。由于疫情的影响，非常遗憾，一些同学目前只能通过线上进行学习。希望随着疫苗的接种，疫情得到更好控制，你们可以重返学校。
You have had beautiful memories of youth and good times in China and in your university in China. Chinese education is reputable for its high level. China-Brunei cooperation enjoys broad prospects. Time will continue to prove that you have made the right choice, and that your education in China will lead to a promising future and meaningful contribution to the society. It is my hope that you play your role as a bond of friendship and a bridge of cooperation between our two countries. I hope that you can take part in more activities promoting exchanges and cooperation, introduce more about China to your family and friends, visit China more often, and improve your ability to discern fake news. I also hope that more of you can work in Chinese companies in Brunei, and make greater contributions to the development of China-Brunei relations. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, it is regrettable that some of you can only study online at present. Hopefully, with the worldwide rollout of vaccination programs, the epidemic can be better controlled and you can go back to the campus that you belong to.
我们希望留华学生组织起来，加强沟通交流，共同推动中文关系的发展。谢谢大家！
Before I conclude, I would like to say loud our common hope that a Bruneian Students China Alumni Association can be founded, in order to strengthen communication and exchanges, and promote the development of China-Brunei relations.
