晚上好！很高兴出席“我们的丝路”中外摄影艺术作品展。
Good evening. I am delighted to attend today’s photo exhibition “Our Silk Road”.
丝绸之路是古代多条连接亚欧非几大文明的贸易和人文交流通路的总称。它绵亘万里，延续千年，是促进沿线各国繁荣发展的重要纽带和东西方交流合作的象征，是世界各国共有的历史文化遗产。时光流逝，古丝绸之路曾一度不复往日光彩。但是在二十一世纪的今天，“一带一路”倡议的实施让它重新焕发出勃勃生机。
The Silk Road was an ancient network of trade routes that connected the people of Asia, Europe and Africa. Spanning thousands of miles and years, it was a bond of shared progress for all along the routes. The Silk Road has become a symbol of exchange and cooperation between East and West, and is cherished as a historical and cultural heritage for all humanity. For a period of time, the glory of the ancient Silk Road seemed to be fading away, but today in the 21st Century, the “Belt and Road” initiative has restored its vitality.
今年是新中国成立70周年。70年来，中国从一个贫困落后的国家成长为全球第二大经济体，中华民族实现了从站起来、富起来到强起来的伟大飞跃。过去70年特别是改革开放40年的实践告诉我们：开放带来进步，封闭必然落后，而“一带一路”倡议正是中国扩大开放、与世界分享发展机遇的重大举措。倡议提出近6年来，秉持共商共建共享原则，为国际合作开辟了新方向，为世界经济增长挖掘了新动力，为各国关系发展搭建了新平台，得到国际社会积极支持和热烈响应。目前已有150多个国家和国际组织同中方签署了“一带一路”合作文件，“一带一路”倡议同各方发展规划和政策对接不断展开，一个开放包容、互学互鉴的利益共同体正在形成。
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Over the past seven decades, China has developed from a poor country into the world’s second largest economy. The Chinese nation has stood up, become richer and grown stronger. Experience from the past 70 years, especially the past forty years since reform and opening-up, shows that openness leads to progress while seclusion leaves one behind. And the “Belt and Road” represents an important initiative that China has taken to further open up itself and share development opportunities with the world. Since its inception nearly six years ago, in line with the principle of consultation, cooperation and benefit for all, the “Belt and Road” initiative has created a new form of international cooperation, injected new impetus to global growth and provided a new platform for fostering closer ties between countries. It has received positive response and extensive support from the international community. So far, more than 150 countries and international organizations have signed “Belt and Road” cooperation documents with China. There is growing synergy between the “Belt and Road” initiative and the development plans and policies of various parties, and a community of shared interests featuring openness, inclusiveness and mutual-learning is taking shape.
今天，第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛在北京举行，这是“一带一路”框架下最高规格的国际合作平台。来自150多个国家和90多个国际组织的近5000名外宾出席了本次主题为“共建‘一带一路’、开创美好未来”的论坛。在北京时间今天上午举行的论坛开幕式上，习近平主席发表主旨演讲，呼吁共同开创共建“一带一路”的美好未来。此次论坛必将有力推动共建“一带一路”迈向高质量发展，为世界各国发展提供新机遇，为增进各国人民福祉作出新贡献。
Today’s exhibition coincides with the second “Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation which is now being held in Beijing. The Forum is the top-level platform for international cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework, and the theme for the ongoing Forum is “Belt and Road Cooperation, Shaping a Brighter Shared Future”. Nearly 5,000 foreign guests from more than 150 countries and 90 international organizations have attended the Forum. President Xi Jinping made a keynote speech at the opening session of the Forum this morning, calling for joint efforts to deliver a brighter future for “Belt and Road” cooperation. The Forum will go a long way in promoting high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” endeavor, providing new opportunities for global development and making new contributions to the well-being of people of all countries.
马耳他是率先与中国开展“一带一路”合作的欧洲发达国家之一。去年11月，穆斯卡特总理率团赴上海出席进博会开幕式，期间中马政府签署了“一带一路”合作谅解备忘录，为两国进一步拓展深化各领域合作勾画了蓝图。马能源部长米兹应邀参加了第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛，并与中方签署了新的合作文件。我们重视同马方在“一带一路”框架下的合作，相信在中马双方共同努力下，越来越多的务实合作项目将会落地开花，美好的愿景将转化为切实的成果，为两国和两国人民带来更多福祉。
Malta is one of the first developed countries in Europe to carry out “Belt and Road” cooperation with China. Last November, the Hon. Prime Minister Muscat attended the first China International Import Expo in Shanghai, during which the two governments signed an MOU on “Belt and Road” cooperation, which constitutes a new blueprint for broader and deeper cooperation between our two countries. I’m pleased to inform you that among the participants attending the second “Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation is the Maltese Minister for Energy and Water Management Mr. Joe Mizzi, who signed a new cooperation agreement with China in Beijing yesterday. We attach great importance to “Belt and Road” cooperation between China and Malta. I believe that with joint efforts, we will see a growing number of cooperation projects between our two countries and deliver even more benefits to our two peoples.
今天的展览以八个不同的主题，展示了丝绸之路沿线国家的自然景观和人文风貌，包括中国摄影家拍摄的马耳他风情，以及马耳他摄影家镜头里的中国印象。通过此次展览，大家可以真切地感受到不同国家和民族的人们对于美好生活的向往，我想，这种共同的追求，正是我们携手推进“一带一路”建设、构建人类命运共同体的不竭动力。
Consisting of eight different categories, today’s exhibition showcases the natural beauty and cultural traditions of countries along the Silk Road. They include a photo taken by a Chinese photographer in Malta, and photos taken by a Maltese photographer in China. Through this exhibition, one can feel people’s aspirations for a better life. This common pursuit, shared among different countries and nations, is our driving force to jointly promote the Belt and Road initiative and build a community with a shared future for mankind.
