上午好！很高兴能够在线出席此次庆祝中澳建交50周年论坛。借此机会，对墨尔本大学、Asialink和当代中国研究院共同为举办此次论坛所做的努力表示赞赏，向墨尔本大学长期为促进中澳教育交流和科研合作所做出的积极贡献表示感谢，向现场长期支持中澳友好与合作的各位嘉宾致以诚挚的谢意！
Good morning to you all. It is my great pleasure to virtually attend the forum celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia. I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the University of Melbourne, Asialink, and the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies, for their joint efforts in organizing this forum. I would like to thank the University of Melbourne for its long-standing positive contributions to promoting educational exchanges and research cooperation between China and Australia. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all the guests here who have long supported China-Australia friendship and cooperation.
中澳两国关系自1972年中澳建交以来，长期走在中国同发达国家关系的前列。中澳都是伟大的国家，两国人民勤劳而智慧，彼此有着友好感情。建交50年来，中澳两国各领域、各层级互动频繁，友好与互信不断增强，务实合作成就尤为突出，互利共赢始终是中澳关系的本质特征。中澳教育合作与交流一直是双边关系的重要组成部分，充满活力，成果丰硕。目前，中澳两国高校间签署了超过1700份正式合作协议。中国是澳大利亚第二大国际科研合作伙伴，联合科研产出占澳国际科研合作总产出的1/4。中国多年来一直是澳大利亚最大国际留学生生源国，同时澳大利亚也有12000余名学生通过奋进奖学金和新科伦坡计划派往中国学习。今年初我到任以来，访问了包括墨尔本大学在内的多所澳大利亚名校，参观了校园和实验室，并与校长和教授们进行了深入交流，我被他们对与中国同行合作的热情和对中国人民的友好情谊所感动，对携手共建中澳友好事业的未来有了更多信心。
Since its establishment in 1972, China-Australia relations had led the way of China’s relations with developed countries. China and Australia are both great countries, with hard-working and intelligent people establishing close rapport with each other. Over the past 50 years, China and Australia have interacted frequently in all fields at all levels, our friendship and mutual trust have increased, and our practical cooperation have achieved outstanding results. Mutual benefit and win-win has always been the essential feature of China-Australia relations. As an important part of our bilateral relations, education cooperation and exchanges have been dynamic and fruitful. Currently, over 1,700 formal cooperation agreements have been signed between Chinese and Australian universities. China is Australia’s second largest international research partner, with joint research output accounting for a quarter of Australia’s total international research. China has also been Australia’s largest source of international students for many years, while more than 12,000 Australian students have studied in China on the Endeavour Scholarship and the New Colombo Plan. Since I took office early this year, I have visited a number of leading Australian universities, including the University of Melbourne. I have made visits to campuses and laboratories, and had in-depth exchanges with vice-chancellors and professors. I am deeply touched by their enthusiasm for working with their Chinese colleagues and their friendship with the Chinese people, and I have gained more confidence in jointly building the future of China-Australia friendship.
近期，两国在各领域举行了卓有成效的高层交流，达成了一系列共识。11月15日，习近平主席在巴厘岛会见了阿尔巴尼斯总理，这是两国关系进程中一个重要的标志性时刻，为中澳关系未来发展指明了方向。正如习近平主席在会见阿尔巴尼斯总理所指出，中澳两国同为亚太地区重要国家，应该改善、维护、发展好两国关系，这不仅符合两国人民根本利益，也有利于促进亚太地区和世界和平与发展。
Recently, there have been fruitful high-level exchanges between our two countries. The meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Australian Prime Minister Albanese in Bali on 15 November was an important landmark in the course of the China-Australia relationship, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. As President Xi Jinping pointed out in his meeting with Prime Minister Albanese, both as important countries in the Asia-Pacific region, China and Australia need to improve, uphold and further develop our relationship, which not only serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples but also helps promote peace and development in the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
本次论坛的主题是“共创未来”（Building the Future Together），与会代表将围绕着环境、健康、生物科技与创新等一系列重要的论题，分享洞见、建言献策，共绘中澳未来合作的蓝图。相信中澳关系会更趋成熟稳定、富有韧性。中方愿以今年中澳建交50周年为契机，同澳方一道努力，回顾过去，展望未来，秉持相互尊重、互利共赢的原则，推动中澳全面战略伙伴关系不断向前发展，并共同为应对当前全球性挑战作出积极贡献，更好造福两国和世界人民。
The theme of this forum is “Building the Future Together”. Participants are expected to share insights and give proposals on a range of important topics such as environment, health, biotechnology, and innovation, and together draw a blueprint for future cooperation between China and Australia. I am convinced that China-Australia relations will become more mature, stable, and resilient. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, China is ready to work with Australia to build on past achievements, look ahead to the future, uphold the principle of mutual respect and mutual benefit, and further advance the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership. Together we can make more positive contributions to addressing global challenges, and bring greater benefits to our two countries and the people throughout the world.
