①【例】This contract shall be governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China as to interpretation and performance.

本合同应按中华人民共和国的法律进行解释和履行。

 

②用现在分词短语修饰前面的名词。常可译成“关于”。

【例】If stock is issued to the public, the corporation must comply with the law governing the sale of corporate securities.

如果向公众发行股票，公司必须遵守关于出售公司证券的法律。

②常用the government（有时大写）指说话人自己国家的“政府”。

政府星期六放开了面包和其他主食的价格，使其按市价上升。

 

③用作定语。

【例】In modern economies taxes are the most important source of government revenues.

在现代经济社会中，税收是政府收入的最重要的来源。
