承兑交单

①D/A原文为documents against acceptance，在句中可用作状语，有的还独立于句外。

【例】Payment to be made by 180 days’ sight bill, D/A.

应用180天期汇票支付，承兑交单。

②D/A也可作词组里的定语。

【例】They do not usually accept D/A payment terms.

他们通常不接受承兑交单的支付条款。

damage

【1】损坏，损失

①无论指物质上“损坏”或精神上“损害”，都可用作n(U)。

【例】We don’t understand how the damage could have happened.

我们不了解怎么会发生这一损坏。

②可接用to sth。

【例】We have never experienced such damage to the packing cases as was complained of in this particular instance.

像你们当前所抱怨的这种装箱损坏情况，我们从未经历过。

③指物质上的损坏时，有时用damages，但不得用a damage。

【例】We’re quite certain that the damages you reported on the first shipment were the result of careless handling by the trucking company.

我们十分肯定，你方所说的第一批货物的损坏是由于汽车运输公司搬运不慎造成的。

【2】损失赔偿金

用复数形式。

【例】The sellers apparently admit their fault, but refuse to pay damages.

卖方显然承认错误，但拒绝付给赔偿金。

【3】损坏

①【例】We have found that many of the cases are severely damaged.

我们发现许多箱已严重破损。

②过去分词可用作定语（如in damaged condition）和主语的补语（如… the goods… arrived damaged）。

【例】We regret to note that the goods shipped against your Order No.123 arrived damaged [in damaged condition].

得知按照你方第123号订单所运交的货物到货时已损坏，我方很遗憾。

②常接用of sth或to sth。

【例】Hidden rocks are a danger to freight steamers.

暗礁对货轮是一种危险[威胁]。
