【1】机会

 

①【例】We always give our foreign friends every possible chance of business at the fair.

在交易会上我们给予外国朋友以一切可能成交的机会。

 

②chance后可接用不定式。

【例】As you are a traditional buyer of ours, we believe that you will not let slip the chance to have a look at the exhibits on display.

由于你公司是我们的老顾客，我们相信你们不会错过参观这些展览品的机会。

 

③chance也可接用of或for+动名词，但没有接用不定式普遍。

【例】If later on you see a chance to sell our products at better prices, please let us know.

如以后能以较高价格出售我方产品，则请通知我们。

 

【2】可能性

 

①常用复数，表示单数形式的意思，后接that从句，that常省去。

【例】Chances are (that) the market will take a turn for the better.

市场可能要好转。

 

②也用作不可数名词。

【例】There is little chance that the offer will be accepted.

报盘被接受的可能性很微小。

 

【3】take a chance [chances]冒险

 

【例】US dollar devaluation is imminent. We can’t afford to take our chances.

美元贬值迫在眉睫，我们不能冒险行事。

 

【4】碰巧

 

【例】It so chanced that the name of the goods in your L/C was typed as “shorts” instead of “skirts”.

碰巧，你方信用证中商品名称打（字）为“短裤”而没打作“女裙”。

【例】Please change the time of shipment in the Contract to April.

请将合同内的交货时间改为4月份。

 

【2】兑换

 

①【例】We have changed francs into US dollars.

我们已将法郎兑换成美元。

 

②可接用双宾语。

【例】Can you change me a one-hundred-yuan note?

你能兑换100元的零钱给我吗？

【1】渠道，途径

 

常用复数表示单数的意义。

【例】They got the information through diplomatic [secret, official] channels.

他们通过外交[秘密，正式]途径获得该资料。

 

【2】调拨（资金）

 

【例】We shall channel the fund through a private bank.

我们将通过一家私人银行调拨这笔款项。
