③使用其动名词。

【例】Our words did not imply an under-estimation of your great efforts in canvassing the market for orders at your end.

我们的话无意低估你们在你地招揽业务争取订货所做的巨大努力。

①可作前置定语。

【例】Mr. S is a capable clerk in our corporation.

S先生是我公司一位有能力的职员。

 

②capable + of…（即后面有of短语）用定语时，应置于名词中心词之后。

【例】We deem it necessary for the goods to be packed in strong wooden cases, capable of withstanding rough handling during ocean transportation.

我们认为货物应装于坚固木箱内，木箱能经受海洋运输中的粗鲁搬运。

 

③用作表语时，常接用of…。

【例】This market is capable of using 100000 tons of oil a year.

这个市场一年能消费100000吨石油。
