语音学

 

The science which studies the characteristics of human sound-making, especially those sounds used in speech, and provides methods for their description, classification and transcription. Three branches of the subject are generally recognized: (a) articulatory phonetics is the study of the way speech sounds are made (‘articulated’) by the vocal organs; (b) acoustic phonetics studies the physical properties of speech sound, as transmitted between mouth and ear; (c) auditory phonetics studies the perceptual response to speech sounds, as mediated by ear, auditory nerve and brain.

 

研究人类发音特点,特别是语音发音特点,并提出各种语音描写、分类和转写方法的科学。语音学一般有三个分支:(a)发音语音学,研究发音器官如何产生语音(“发音”);(b)声学语音学,研究口耳之间传递语音的物理属性;(c)听觉语音学,研究人通过耳、听觉神经和大脑对语音的知觉反应。
